Day 12 and 13- June 13 and 14, 2008

Nothing too crazy happening the last couple days. Western Sandpipers showed up, and now they are being seen in multiple plots, displaying, and pairing up. Hopefully we get some nests, they don't get them here very often at all. I managed to find 7 nests the last two days including my first Red Phalarope and Pectoral Sandpiper. I found another Jaeger nest with two eggs. Here is a picture of the Red Phalarope nest.

I was able to get very close to a sleeping Long-billed Dowitcher, and I think the pictures turned out very nicely.

No work tomorrow, hopefully lots of birding. The ocean ice is starting to break up and lots of birds should be seen migrating along the open water.
